This is an eight-year-old single cask Dalmunach from a bourbon hogshead, filled in 2015 and bottled in 2023 by A.D. Rattray at 65.9% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
Dalmunach was built in 2014 on the site of the old Imperial distillery, and this refill hogshead was filled less than a year after the first spirit ran from its stills. The whisky is nutty and gritty in style, with roasted nuts at the front of its character.
The colour is sun-blushed gold. The nose brings grapefruit oil, toasted multigrain bread and spiced chive butter, and the palate grilled peach, rolled oat granola and damson jam. The finish is orchard fruit and citrus over a charred oak base.
