Doc Swinson's Alter Ego is a straight rye whiskey finished in rum casks, in a 75cl bottle... at 47.5% ABV.
It began when the team had surplus rums of more than five years old from Trinidad, Venezuela and Jamaica. The base is a blend of two MGP rye whiskies, both aged for over five years, proofed down to 103 and added to the top row of a solera system started in 2020. The rum-cask character is set before the solera stage begins.
The nose shows brown sugar, cinnamon, Demerara syrup and crème brûlée. The palate is soft, with molasses, stone fruit, raisin and orange. The finish is sweet, with cinnamon, cardamom, clove and a hint of dill.
