A straight rye whiskey from Doc Swinson's, finished in Jamaican rum casks and bottled at 52.7% ABV. It is part of the Exploratory Cask Series from the Ferndale, Washington bottler, and takes its name from the 1970 James Brown drum break by Clyde Stubblefield.
The whiskey blends two five-year-old straight ryes made from distinct mash bills. The finishing casks were first filled with Tennessee whiskey, then used for more than twenty years to age high-ester Jamaican rum.
On the palate, rye spice and pepper meet pineapple, banana syrup, Fuji apple and tropical fruit.
