Dolin Vermouth de Chambéry Rouge (37.5cl)

Dolin Rouge is a sweet red vermouth from Chambéry in Savoie, France, in a 375ml half-bottle. Dolin has made vermouth in Chambéry since 1821, and the town holds France's only protected designation of origin for vermouth, granted in the 1930s. The nose is deep and sweet, with honey, brown sugar, raisins, chocolate-covered cherries and macerated currants, balanced by floral and herbal notes, quinine, anise and faint clove, allspice and chamomile. On the palate it is caramelly and honeyed, with sticky plums and dried fruit, and wormwood and bitter botanicals building towards a pleasantly wine-like dry end. The finish is relatively dry and subtly bitter, with a tempered sweetness.
