This is a vintage Bas-Armagnac from Domaine de Cépède, distilled in 1938 and bottled after many decades of ageing in oak.
That long time in cask has softened the spirit and given it a complex, rounded warmth. It shows dried fig, prune, walnut and gentle spice, and is suited to slow sipping, neat, after dinner.
