Domaine Laroche Saint Martin 2023 Chablis (75cl)

Saint Martin is the flagship Chablis from Domaine Laroche, a Chardonnay from the 2023 vintage in a 75cl bottle. The estate was founded in 1850 and has its headquarters and ageing cellar in the ninth-century Obédiencerie monastery in Chablis. The year was warm and ripened quickly, so fruit was picked plot by plot to keep the freshness. The wine spends time on fine lees, which gives it a tactile texture, and it sits on Kimmeridgian limestone. The nose is reserved, with yellow apple, pear blossom and forest floor. White peach, ripe pear and nectarine come through on the palate with a steely, mineral line. The finish is bright, with chalky acidity and a twist of lemon peel.
