Dominus Estate 2021 Napa Valley Magnum (1.5L)

Dominus Estate is the Napa Valley property of Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix. This 2021 comes in a 1.5 litre magnum and is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from the Napanook Vineyard, planted in 1838, where gravelly clay loam soils and cool breezes from San Pablo Bay shape the wine. Each set is fermented separately, with hand and optical sorting. It was aged in French oak, 40% of it new. 2021 was the second year of a drought, producing small berries with high phenolic levels. It is voluptuous and vibrant, with evergreen forest floor, incense and rich plum, and an extremely long finish.
