Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese 2020 (8.5%)

This is a Riesling Spätlese from the Norheimer Kirschheck vineyard in the Nahe, made from organically grown grapes. Kirschheck is the oldest recorded vineyard site of the Nahe. It faces due south, with soils of grey slate mixed with sandstone, and its name probably refers to the wild cherries that still grow among the vines. The nose is clear and intense, like rain-soaked garden air and perfume over wet, crushed stones. The palate is round, juicy and elegant, with firm acidity and a mineral streak. The finish is long and salty, barely off-dry.
