Big Peat 8 Year Old is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, made as the 2020 Feis Ìle festival edition. It was bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is a small batch vatting of Islay single malts, including Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen. It is unfiltered and natural in colour.
The nose brings charcoal smoke, beach bonfire, salted lemon and smoked barley. On the palate come smoked kippers, cracked black pepper, dried seaweed and honeyed malt. The finish is long and smoky, with peat ash, coastal brine and grilled citrus.
