Dow's 30 Year Old Tawny is an aged port from the Douro Valley in Portugal, made by Dow's, part of Symington Family Estates. It is bottled at 20% in a 75cl bottle.
The fruit comes from vineyards classified "A", including Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, with Touriga Nacional as the backbone grape. Part of the ageing takes place in large, seasoned oak balseiros of 5,000 to 10,000 litres, and the style is drier than many tawnies.
The nose shows roasted walnut, toasted almond, saline notes, florals and cinnamon. The palate is silky, with quince, dried white nectarine, citrus peel and bitter almond. The finish is long and dry, with bitter orange, tea leaf and raisin.
