Eagle Rare 12 Year Old (47.5%)

Eagle Rare 12 Year Old is a Kentucky-style bourbon from Buffalo Trace, introduced in mid-2025 and bottled at 95 proof, or 47.5% ABV. That is 2.5% higher than the standard 10 Year Old, and both are made from Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill #1. It became possible after the distillery's expansion gave it larger warehouses. The nose opens with caramel, chestnut, brown sugar and cocoa powder, moving to orange peel, citrus and toasted marshmallow over toasted oak. The palate is brown sugar sweetness with a rich, mouth-coating texture, then toffee, vanilla and black cherry. The medium finish carries vanilla, caramel, spice and grain, with a light oak dryness.
