Eagle Rare Double Eagle Very Rare is a 20-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. It was aged in charred new American oak and is bottled at either 90 or 101 proof, depending on the release, in a 750ml bottle.
It comes in a hand-blown crystal decanter with two sculpted eagles, one inside the glass and one on the stopper. The original release was 299 bottles.
Toasted oak, caramel, dark chocolate and ripe cherry lead the nose. The palate is silky, with toffee, candied orange peel and roasted nuts. The finish is very long and warming, with honeyed spice, dark stone fruit and soft charred oak.
