El Jolgorio Karwinskii 10th Edition Mezcal (52.5%)

This is the 10th Edition of El Jolgorio's Karwinskii mezcal, a single-palenque release in the producer's black bottle series, bottled at 52.5% ABV. It is made from Agave Karwinskii, often called Cenizo, grown in Oaxaca. The agave is roasted in an underground pit, fermented in open wooden vats and distilled in copper pots. Each bottle is labelled by hand with batch details, including the producer, harvest year and bottle count. The nose combines earth, pine, eucalyptus, citrus peel and light smoke. On the palate it is layered and intense, with tropical fruit, green herbs, pepper and mesquite smoke over a mineral depth. The finish is long and slightly savory, with lingering smoke, spice and acidity.
