Elements of Islay Sherry Cask Blended Malt Scotch (54.5%)

A blended malt from Elements of Islay, matured in first-fill and refill sherry butts and hogsheads and bottled at 54.5% abv. It combines Islay single malt from a distillery on the south coast, which brings dried fruit and dark chocolate, with malt from a north coast distillery that adds lemon oil and Arbroath smokie. The nose has tobacco, like an empty sandalwood cigar box, with Arbroath smoke, lemon oil, ginger root and a hint of menthol. The palate is rich and unctuous, with chocolate-dipped candied orange, stem ginger, muscovado syrup and date ginger cake, while sweet smoke sits behind. The finish is long, sweet and spicy, with treacle toffee and smoky black tea.
