Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel (70cl, 47%)

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is a Kentucky straight bourbon made by Heaven Hill. It starts as fully matured Elijah Craig Small Batch, aged in new charred oak, and is then finished in a second barrel that has been toasted specially. It is bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The extra stage brings sweet oak and caramel notes. Flavours include pekoe tea, new leather, cinnamon, cedar and a hint of jasmine, with peach preserve and brown sugar alongside chipotle spice. The nose shows toasted oak and rich caramel. On the palate, strong spice and pepper give way to milk chocolate, with a touch of smoke. The long, warming finish leaves chocolate and baking spices.
