This is a non-vintage Brut Nature Franciacorta DOCG from Enrico Gatti, a family-owned winery in Erbusco, Lombardy, founded in 1975. It is a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Nero.
The grapes come from Guyot-trained vines of 15 to 25 years old, on south-facing hillside sites with mineral-rich morainic soil at around 220 to 240 metres.
It is a brilliant straw yellow with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose offers citrus and bread crust, with hints of hazelnut, hay and chalk. The palate opens savoury, then turns fresh, with good structure and a mineral, very persistent finish.
