Fable Whisky Chapter 1 'Clanyard' Caol Ila 10 Year Old (57.3%)

This is a 10 year old Caol Ila bottled at 57.3% as Chapter 1 of the Fable Whisky series. It takes its story from the legend of the Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay, on the south-west coast of Scotland near Stranraer. The series was created with the artist Hugo Cuellar, whose label illustrations form a set of eleven chapters. The nose opens with barbecue smoke, lemon salt and bacon, then ash, sea air, liquorice and toasted bread. A few drops of water bring out fresh coastal notes and seaweed. The palate is leathery and honeyed, with seeded toast, white pepper and citrus. The finish is medium, with smoked meat and charred lemon peel.
