Fielden – Rye Whisky (48%)

Fielden Rye Whisky is an English rye made from rye, floor malted rye, floor malted barley and wheat, all grown in England. The grains are fermented in stainless steel tanks and wooden vats, then distilled in both pot and column stills. The spirit is matured in new and used American oak. Around 20 to 25 per cent of the blend also matures and finishes in dessert and fortified wine barrels, including Sauternes, Ramandolo, Moscatel do Douro, Moscatel de Setúbal and Madeira. It spends at least 42 months in cask, then 93 days marrying before bottling at 48% ABV. Expect flowers and wild berries on the nose, flaky pastry with caramel, hazelnut and fresh bread on the palate, and a finish of fresh grain with minty, peppercorn spice.
