Four Gate Batch 29 Triple Oak is a Kentucky straight American whiskey bottled at 53.8% ABV in a 75cl bottle, and the first triple oak release from independent bottler Four Gate. The mashbill is 80% corn, 11% rye and 9% malted barley.
It spent its first seven years in used oak casks, then five months in new No. 2 char barrels from Kelvin Cooperage and two months in new medium toasted barrels. The idea was first proposed by the late Kevin McLaughlin of Kelvin Cooperage.
The nose is sweet oak, caramel, mild smoke and orchard fruit. The palate brings candied green apple, cinnamon and pie crust. The finish is medium-long, with caramel, cloves, tobacco leaf and toasted oak.
