Foursquare Penultimus is Mark XXX in the Exceptional Cask Selection, a Barbados rum bottled at a natural 57% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first Foursquare release to be finished in Spanish Moscatel wine casks.
The blend combines pot and column still rums, aged for more than ten years in bourbon American oak before five years in Moscatel casks. It carries no added sugar, no colouring and no chill filtration.
On the nose there is tropical fruit and roasted vanilla, with dried fig, honey and orange blossom. The palate brings dark toffee, caramelised banana and dried apricot, with coffee and gentle oak spice. The finish is long and warming, with cocoa, Moscatel sweetness and dry spice.
