Ganymed IV is an unpeated 10 year old single malt from the Scotch Universe range, distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023 at 56.5% ABV. The distillery behind the name is on Islay and was founded in 1881. The whisky spent 121 months in a first fill Ruby Port wine barrique.
The nose is dark and rich, with heavy port notes, thickened grape juice and blackberries, plus a fine touch of thyme and dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied and chocolatey, with dark grapes, malt extract, old port, leather and more thyme spice. The finish is long, chocolatey and spicy, turning drier, with restrained fruit.
