A ten-year-old Speyside single malt from GlenAllachie, released in numbered batches at cask strength and not chill-filtered. In a 750ml bottle, the strength runs from about 57 to 59% depending on the batch.
The whisky is a vatting of spirit aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry, red wine and virgin oak casks, selected by Billy Walker. The distillery ferments for 160 to 164 hours, which gives a fruitier, heavier spirit.
Mocha and toasted hazelnuts lead the nose, with fig syrup, honeycomb and dried red berries. The palate is dark chocolate, ripe figs, brandied cherries and toffee sauce. The finish is long, with mocha, molasses and dried fruit fading into gentle oak spice.
