Glendalough – 7 Year Old Mizunara Cask Finish

This is a seven-year-old Irish single malt from Glendalough, finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks. It matured first in American oak bourbon casks before moving into the Mizunara, a wood the distillery's team chose for the project even though it is demanding for coopers to work with. The result is described as fragrant and intricate. The nose offers milk chocolate, vanilla pod, orange zest and sandalwood. On the palate chocolate carries on, joined by toasted cinnamon, five-spice, ripe apricot and nectarine. The finish brings brown sugar, lemon peel, anise and flaky pastry.
