Glenfarclas 17 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the family-owned Glenfarclas Distillery at Ballindalloch, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks and is not chill filtered.
The distillery has been in the Grant family since 1865 and uses direct-fired stills, with water from the springs of Ben Rinnes. The whisky has a deep amber colour and a sherry-led character.
On the nose there are baked apple and pear, cinnamon and gingerbread. The palate is medium-bodied, with sherry sweetness, black pepper, clove, raisins and figs. The finish is warming and dry, with a touch of oak tannin.
