Glenfiddich – 15 Year Old Solera Reserve (70cl)

This is a 15 year old Speyside single malt from the Glenfiddich Distillery, in a 70cl bottle. It uses a technique developed by the distillery's Malt Master in 1998, drawing on Spanish and Portuguese sherry production. The whisky is matured in European oak sherry butts, American bourbon barrels and new oak casks. It is then combined in a large oak Solera Vat that has never been fully emptied. The nose is heather honey and vanilla fudge with sun-dried fruit. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with cinnamon, ginger, baked apple and a dry sherry note. The finish is long, with lingering warmth fading into dry oak.
