Glengoyne 17 Year Old is a single malt bottled at its natural cask strength of 56.8% ABV for The Chess Malt Collection, an independent series in which each bottle stands for a move in a game. This one is C8. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The nose brings green apples, baked pears, vanilla, light honey, a touch of citrus and toasted oak. The palate is creamy, with ripe fruit, malt, lightly spiced caramel, ginger and a hint of dark chocolate, leading to a long, warm finish with sweetness, spice and a dry edge.
