Glenmorangie – Grand Vintage Malt 1998 23 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1998 is a 23 year old single malt Scotch distilled in 1998, the year Dr Bill Lumsden took charge of whisky creation at the distillery. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is built around a few experimental casks of charred virgin oak, filled with new-make spirit and left in an earth-floored warehouse for more than two decades. Dr Bill layered that spicy, buttery whisky with Glenmorangie aged in first-fill bourbon casks, then added a hint of whisky finished in oloroso sherry casks. It is described as ripe fruit and rich orange chocolate, threaded with sugared almonds and spice.
