This is an 11 year old Glenrothes single malt from Gordon & MacPhail's Discovery series, matured in sherry casks. The Discovery range groups its whiskies as Sherry, Smoky and Bourbon.
The nose has zesty Seville orange with cinnamon and clove, stewed red berries, plum and cherry, and a little milk chocolate. The palate is creamy, then cracked black pepper, dark forest fruits and warming spice, with orange marmalade coming forward and roasted walnut leading to toasted oak. The finish is long, with lingering chocolate and orange.
