Godet Antarctica Folle Blanche Cognac (175cl, 40%)

This is a colourless cognac from Godet, made entirely from Folle Blanche and bottled at 40% vol in a large 1.75 litre format. Godet is based in La Rochelle and has produced spirits since 1588. The eau de vie matures for seven years in century-old French oak casks, which have been seasoned so thoroughly that they give almost no colour. Any faint hue left is filtered out, leaving a clear spirit. The nose has white flowers, butterscotch, dried apricot, chamomile and fresh pine. The palate is clean, with apple custard, poached pear, golden raisin and vanilla, then white pepper, in a medium to full body. The finish is moderately long, with tropical fruit, aniseed and cool menthol.
