Gold Bar Black Double Cask is a straight bourbon made in collaboration with a Texas-based distillery. The mash is 80% Texas corn and 20% Oklahoma rye, and it is non-chill-filtered.
The spirit spends three to six years in new American oak, then is finished in former French oak wine casks from Napa Valley.
The nose brings wood, toffee and caramel, with layers of spicy rye and vanilla. On the palate there is bold spiced rye, toasted cinnamon and rich tobacco, settling into a soft, buttery finish with gentle cherry and sweet fruit.
