This is a 40 year old Pulteney single malt, distilled in 1982 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of its Private Collection. Pulteney is a distillery in the northern Highlands.
The whisky matured for around 38 years in a refill American oak hogshead, and the bottling comes from that single cask.
The nose offers rich honey, citrus zest, vanilla and ripe orchard fruit. The palate brings melon, lemon and gentle spice with soft white pepper. The finish is long, with toasted oak, lingering sweetness and subtle maritime salinity.
