Green Spot Chateau Montelena is a single pot still Irish whiskey from the Wine Geese series, made as a collaboration between Green Spot and Chateau Montelena of Napa Valley. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The whiskey was first matured in sherry and bourbon casks, then finished for 12 months in French oak Zinfandel wine casks.
The nose combines crisp oak with vanilla, white chocolate and marshmallow, alongside red apples, ripe pears, pomegranate, cranberries and maraschino cherries. On the palate a sweet start turns drier, with pot still spices, zesty citrus, orchard fruit, red berries, marzipan and toasted oak. The finish is long, with spices alongside a delicate dryness from the wine.
