Guado al Tasso is the flagship red of the Guado al Tasso estate in the Bolgheri DOC, which has been part of the Marchesi Antinori group since the 1930s. The wine is typically a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with an occasional dash of Petit Verdot.
The 2016 opens with blackberry, blackcurrant, lilac and tea. The palate is supple, with dark purple fruits, stony mineral accents and hints of blueberry, woven with subtle herbal and spicy touches. The finish is broad and well balanced, with polished tannins, black olive, fresh thyme and a lingering note of oak.
