Hakushu 12 Year Old is a Japanese single malt from the Hakushu Distillery in Yamanashi, set on the slopes of Mount Kaikomagatake. Keizo Saji founded the distillery in 1973. The whisky was first released in 1994, paused in 2018 and returned in 2021. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of peated and non-peated malts matured for at least twelve years in American oak, sherry casks and refill barrels. The nose is fresh young leaves, green apple, jasmine and soft vanilla, with a faint smokiness appearing later. The palate is sweet and light on entry, with vanilla, pear and apple alongside generous oak, honey and a crisp touch of spice.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
