Suntory Hakushu 18 Year Old 100th Anniversary (75cl, 48%)

Hakushu 18 Year Old 100th Anniversary is a single malt Japanese whisky bottled at 48% in a 750ml bottle. It was released to celebrate Suntory's centenary. The malts were matured in various cask types for a minimum of 18 years, and fermented in wooden washbacks. Hakushu stands at the foot of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Southern Alps and draws on water filtered through granite. The whisky is peated, with the smoke kept soft. The nose brings sage, green apple and pineapple, with a thread of dry peat smoke. The palate opens peppery, then clean smoke, grapefruit, acacia honey and Sencha green tea. The finish is smoky and clean, with green citrus, stewed tea leaves and honey.
