Hakushu – 12 Year Old

Hakushu 12 Year Old is a Japanese whisky made by Suntory at the Hakushu Distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture. The distillery uses soft, clear underground water and traditional wooden washbacks, and relies on its natural surroundings for fermentation. The result is a fresh style with a subtle smokiness. The nose is herbal, with basil and pine needles, alongside green apple and pear, and hints of nuttiness and oak. The palate is smooth and fruit-forward, with pear and lemon and a cooling, mint-like touch. The finish brings sweet citrus and a delicate smokiness.
