Hakushu Story of the Distillery 2025 Edition is a single malt from Hakushu Distillery in Yamanashi, Japan, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made from smoky Hakushu malt aged exclusively in bourbon barrels, and combines ripe fruit sweetness with a crisp, fresh character.
The label and packaging show the distillery set in the Hakushu forest in the Southern Alps.
On the nose, pineapple, apple and vanilla give way to herbal forest aromas and a hint of roasted tea. The palate brings honey, wasanbon sugar, light bitterness and spice, and the finish is ember smoke with a touch of bitterness.
