Handy & Schiller Barreled Manhattan is a ready-to-pour Manhattan from the Merchants Exchange Co. line of the Sazerac Company, made and bottled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky at 35%.
It is built on Sazerac Rye Whiskey, blended with sweet vermouth, Peychaud's Bitters and a touch of caramel colour. The mixture then rests in Sazerac Rye barrels, which brings the components together. The name honours John Schiller, who ran the Sazerac Coffeehouse in New Orleans by 1860, and Thomas Handy, who worked for him.
On the nose there is vanilla almond nougat, candied cherries, butterscotch, tobacco, toast, dried orange peel and corn bread.
