Hard Truth x Mellencamp American Odd Bourbon is a bottled-in-bond sweet mash bourbon from Brown County, Indiana, aged four years and bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is a collaboration between Hard Truth Distilling Co. and John Mellencamp.
The mash is 82% corn and 18% rye, all grown on Indiana farms. The spirit ages in barrels made by Independent Stave Company with a #1 char and a custom toast developed for the distillery.
Caramel, clove, red peach and custard lead the nose. Cherry, coffee cake, cinnamon and baking spice shape the palate, and the long finish brings dark cherry, tobacco leaf, black pepper and brown sugar.
