Heartwood 2nd Moment of Truth is a cask-strength vatted malt made from new-make spirit that was blended before it went into wood. It is the first time an Australian bottler has combined new-make from two distilleries, Fleurieu and Fannys Bay.
The spirit matured in first-fill casks that previously held apera and sherry, or apera and Topaque. It was bottled in March 2022 at 60.1% ABV, in 233 individually numbered 500ml bottles.
The palate is thick and grapey, with tannic grip, spice and chocolate, followed by a long, mouth-coating finish.
