Heaven Hill Double Mash is a nine-year-old Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky straight bourbon from the Bardstown distillery, bottled at 50% in a 750ml bottle. It combines two mashbills: two-thirds a traditional rye recipe of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley, and one-third a wheated recipe of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. Each is distilled and aged separately for nine years before blending.
Toasted oak, vanilla, honey and caramel lead the nose, with a little white pepper. The palate brings citrus oil, rye spice, cinnamon, cedar and a creamy mouthfeel. The finish is medium-long, with caramel and baking spices giving way to tannic oak and black pepper.
