Hennessy X.O Extra Old Cognac (75cl, 40%)

Hennessy X.O is the cognac first designated Extra Old, created in 1870 when Maurice Hennessy asked Master Blender Emile Fillioux for a private reserve for his friends. It is bottled at 40% abv in a 75cl decanter-style bottle with embossed vine and grape motifs. The blend draws on more than 100 eaux-de-vie from the four premier crus of Cognac, aged in young French oak barrels. They range from ten to thirty years old, the youngest bringing fire and the oldest silk. The colour is deep amber. The nose is candied fruit, dried fig, dark chocolate and rising spice. The palate is full and rounded, with dried fruit, leather, tobacco, pepper and cocoa over oak. The finish is long and warming, with vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate and oak.
