This is the 2024 release of Hibiki 21 Years Old, a Japanese blended whisky from Suntory in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. Hibiki was launched in 1989.
The blend brings together malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita, all aged for at least 21 years. Maturation took place in American oak, sherry casks and Japanese Mizunara oak.
The nose combines dried fruit, honey, orange peel, sandalwood and fine vanilla. The palate shows caramelised fruit, dark chocolate, light sherry sweetness and subtle spice. The finish is long, creamy and elegant, with Mizunara, incense wood and a silky warmth.
