High West – A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 12, Scene 6 Straight Rye Whiskey (75cl, 49.3%)

A Midwinter Night's Dram Act 12, Scene 6 is a straight rye whiskey from High West in Park City, Utah. It is based on the distillery's Rendezvous Rye, a blend of its own rye (80 per cent rye, 20 per cent malted rye) and a sourced rye from MGP (95 per cent rye, 5 per cent barley malt). The whiskey was aged in new charred American oak and finished in ruby and tawny port barrels. The name nods to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was bottled at 49.3% ABV, not chill-filtered or carbon treated. The port finish adds dried fruit to a rye that is naturally spicier and more assertive. The nose offers poached pear, dried cherry, star anise, nutmeg and spiced Christmas cookie. On the palate come fig, cranberry, dark plum jam on rye toast, gingerbread and brandied cherries.
