High West Double Rye is an American rye whiskey from Park City, Utah, blended from straight rye whiskeys aged between 2 and 7 years. One component is a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley made by MGP. The other is 80% rye and 20% malted rye, distilled by High West itself.
All of it matured in new, charred white American oak barrels. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The nose brings mint, clove, cinnamon, liquorice root, pine nuts and dark chocolate, with gin-like botanicals throughout. On the palate, rye spice leads into menthol, mint, eucalyptus and herbal tea with wildflower honey. The finish is cinnamon and mint, sweetening gradually, with a hint of aniseed.
