High West Bourye is an American whiskey that blends straight bourbon with straight rye, each aged for at least 10 years. The name comes from the fictional jackalope, a nod to two spirit styles combined in one bottle.
The bourbon brings caramel sweetness and the rye adds earthy spice. In the glass it is rich, full-bodied and oily.
The nose offers Honeycrisp apple, caramelised peach, dried apricot, dark chocolate and toasted almonds, with vanilla and a trace of tobacco leaf. Maple syrup, red cherry, brown sugar and nougat meet spicy rye, cinnamon and orange zest on the palate. The finish is long, with pecan brittle, candied ginger, seasoned oak and white pepper.
