High West – Double Rye (75cl, 46%)

High West Double Rye is a blend of two rye whiskeys, each aged for a minimum of two years, bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The younger rye was sourced and made on a column still, and brings cinnamon, clove, anise, eucalyptus and evergreen, gin-like flavours. The older rye was distilled by High West on a pot still and adds a richer, bolder character, with caramel sweetness and woody vanilla to soften the younger whiskey's bite. On the nose it shows mint, clove, cinnamon, liquorice root, pine nuts and dark chocolate, with gin botanicals throughout. The palate opens with rye spice, then menthol, mint and eucalyptus, and the finish is cinnamon and mint that sweetens gradually.
