This is an 11 year old Highland Park from 1999, bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as 4.152 under the name 'Hay bales in a limestone cave'. It was matured in a first-fill ex-bourbon cask and bottled at 61.7% ABV. The colour is straw. The nose is big, with raspberry, strawberries, candied oranges and light peat smoke. With water it turns to salted lemon curd, dried herbs and charcoal smoke, with curry powder and mustard appearing. On the palate there is honey and very light, peppery peat. Water makes it fatter and more textural, with juicy watermelon sweetness and seashore mineral notes. The finish is long, with a big bready element.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
