This is a Highland Park 12 Year Old from Orkney, a single malt from the 1990s.
It shows an older style of the distillery, with a gentle, floral heather smoke and a light sherry cask influence running through honeyed malt.
The nose offers heather honey, malt loaf and soft toffee, with dried orange peel, sultana, nuts and polished oak. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with honey, malted barley and caramelised citrus, then hazelnut, nutmeg and clove. A faint mineral, sea-breeze edge sits beneath the smoke. The finish is long and warming, with honeyed malt, light smoke and dried fruit.
