Highland Park – 12 Year Old

Highland Park 12 Year Old has been one of the distillery's core expressions since it was first launched in 1976. The distillery in Orkney still floor malts and smokes part of its barley with heather peat from Hobbister Moor. The whisky combines spirit matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks with some refill casks, which balance the sweetness and spice of the oak against a gentle peat character. The nose is fresh and floral, with heather honey and a touch of citrus. The palate is sweet and spicy, with burnt orange, jasmine and fruitcake. The finish is long, with pepper, woody notes, orange zest and a hint of heathered peat smoke.
